Only one gourami in answer to your first question. Only one species in answer to your second question. Male anabantids are aggressive towards each other.
I agree with Lupin. A 5 gallon is too small for 2 Gouramis. They would not be happy. I would not put a Betta with a Gourami. Gouramis & Bettas both are best kept with fairly peaceful community fish like neons, white clouds, danios, catfish. Not very exciting I know but that's the way it goes.
I've heard they are ok with Angelfish but I would say you need a larger tank for an Angel and a Gourami. Dwarf Gouramis are a fish that should be kept in groups of 3 or more, so keep that in mind too.
