Does anyone have this soil? I'm interested if it's stable long term to have in your tank or not...

Also, I don't get how the soil can soften the water, the calcium and stuff isn't going to vaporize into nothing.

Its basically fired soil. Its very stable. If not the best plant soil out there on the market its one of the best. It really allows plants to kick in. ADA trys to sell the power soil along with the special fertz for the ada aqua series but you can do without. The only real downside to aquasoil is the time frame it last. Most report 2-3 years before the soil exhaust. If you have a big tank it will cost you though. You can also look into MTS (Mineralized Top Soil) for alot cheaper and last along time. The downside to MTS is that your substrate is limited to about 3"

I wouldn't need over 3" I don't think.
When the aquasoil exhausts, do you mean it stops feeding the plants, or does the pH and everything go back up in the tank?

Where do do you find MTS? I am wanting the pH lowering quality more than the plant feeding quality.
