911 pictus is dead, balas are dying!

Today I woke up and my pictus cat was dead floating belly up at the top i noticed my 2 bala sharks are acting funny and just started slowly going belly up. I also had found out my filter had gotten unplugged and i didnt notice so (possible reasoning) though i dont know how that could hurt, its also possible that its been unplugged for several days.

Water parameters are as:

Ph is 7.8

Ammonia is at 0

water temp is kept steady at 80 F

big water change and make sure they are getting plenty of bubbles. leave the water level a little low if you have to.

Sounds like they're not getting enough oxygen. If your filter hasn't been running there hasn't been enough aeration. If you have an air pump and air stone then you should be okay until the filter is fixed.

What he said. I lost my Red Tail shark Like this. I was Cleaning and didn't get teh retun line ponited at the surface, so there was no agitaion. 80 is warm enough to really lower the O2 levels. sorry for your loss, also the water can become toxic if the o2 crashed. Its just like if you have deep sand bottom and don't stir it, pockets of gas will form, which can relase deadly toxins.

I put them in a different tank thats smaller with plenty of air but i lost them in the night anyways. =( but none of my other fish were acting funny. maybe i was wondering if a fish dies can its body become toxic to other fish?? because when the pictus died the two balas were eating on him =/ so is it possible the pictus died and i didnt see him for a day or so (i have been SO busy with work and stuff) and the balas ate on him and died? because they literally died at the EXACT same time. Just a possibility maybe??

Doubtful about the fish becoming toxic that quickly. I'd bring your water to be tested forNirIte and NitrAte levels and pick up a complete test kit. Was this an established cycled tank?

Sorry about your fish btw....
