55 gallon tank with Piranhas?

Before I start they are legal to own in my state.

My brother brought home three piranhas a few weeks ago and since then he has moved back to college. The water is about 78 degrees and about a quarter inch of gravel in with them. We have been feeding them both frozen blood worms and are doing quite well. Two of them seems to be doing fine, but one of them has been eaten by the others. I heard that they shouldn't be in pairs, is this true? Would I be better off buying one or two more? Also, what should I put in the tank with them?

I'm sorry if this doesn't go here. We had a Pacu and an Oscar in this tank for many years and the Piranhas are very different.

i have seen a few post on these and most keep 3-5. tank size has a lot to do with it. but it might not be wise to put anything in there with them. if you had a lot bigger tank, possibly a bigger fish that is aggressive as well. i will see if i can find that post.

As stated, they are a par of the Cyprinid (or whatever the tetra is) family, and should be in groups. I remember reading somewhere that you should have 1 piranha per square foot at maximum, so you could have 4, or should have 4 with optimum filtration.
