55 gallon tank ideas

I have a 55 gallon tank that has completed its cycle. I have 6 cory cats and 6 cherry barbs. I am going for quantity and variety. How many fish could I keep? What should I get? I have so many ideas I can't decide on anything so as many ideas as I can get would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get more corys but I don't want to limit myself to only a few species. My wife wants pretty fish whatever that means. I was also thinking about some kind of dwarf pleco. Is one enough or do I need more.

nope a single pleco in the tank will be ok. there are several types of pleco the smallers ones are a tad expensive but the normal ones are like the brislenose which get up to 4 inches are cheaper, but keep in mind if it's a planted he'll need to go in after the plants are established in the tank. he like a little plant food if underfed and no one knows how many times they are fed in a lfs or are they getting enough to eat.so it will be a safe bet

My original plan for the tank was as follows:

10 cory cats
10 cardinal tetras
6 cherry barbs
3 swordtails- 1 male 2 female
2 dwarf gouramis
6 zebra danios
1 dwarf pleco

Is this too much? It does not quite cover the 1 inch per gallon rule but the fish are on different levels of the tank. Maybe this can give people an idea of the route I want to go. I am interested in tiger barbs also but I am worried about aggression.
