You are not over stocked in my view, but you have fishes requiring different water chemistry which more often as not leads to one group being under stress which in turn can lead to sick or dead fishes .
Cardinal tetra's prefer soft warm water conditions, while the Danios and Platy's prefer relatively hard cooler water.
The two synodontis although they seldom get longer than four inches and are probably quite small now,are most active after dark and will eat smaller fishes that they can catch as they mature.
They do fairly well in moderately soft to hard water and appreciate moderate current which the Aquaclear can easily provide in 55 gallon tank.
Been sometime since I kept the Whiptail's (Farlowella?) but they are largely herbivores, so do see that they are provided with algae, spirulina pellet's, algae wafer's, and or algae based foods.
Depending on what my water was like with respect to pH,gh,kh., I would try and keep only fishes that will thrive in my water and temp should suit all occupant's.
Hope this helps.
