55 gallon remodel?

Okay soo recently, we came back from vacation to find a fish tank with no fish :(
All that's left is many plants, sand and driftwood :(
We had no idea what happened during the vacation but it was a tragedy! And we've had this tank for almost two years!!
So now I'm thinking of restocking it :)
It was a community tank, but now I'm thinking something else ;)
Is it possible to place any kind of cichlids in this tank without them tearing it apart?
Like I'm thinking a cichlid only tank but I dont know if I need to change this tank, or if there are some middle sized cichlids that can fit in this tank? And don't worry the tank is now clean!! I did several water changes and removed all waste!

So can anyone help me?

For the most part, Cichlids and live plants don't mix. They will uproot them.

hi.
well you'll need to cycle again then, unless you have another tank that
you can share filter media with.
best thing is to research what cichlids you want,i have cichlids from lake malawi, and i have amazon
sword in with them,as i'm not a big fan on large amounts of rock with no greenery.
you also need to take into account what your water results are,how hard or soft your water is.
and how big your tank is,some cichlids grow quite big,and rather fast.
and sorry about your loses.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

Well like any kind of like central american cichlids, for ex
Pair of firemouth
Pair of blue Acura
Convict pair
And Pictsis cat

Hows that?
Is it compatible for a 55 gallon planted tank?
