55 gal tank

55 gallon wedge corner tank. 28" deep 23" tall bowfront.

I took all my fish out of tank, all decorations out, want to start fresh with no fish, What I would like to do is start a planted tank. but have no idea where to start.

only thing still in it is a large pleco don't know what to do with him, too large for other tanks, any suggestions?

tank is still cycled.

cleaned inside and out top to bottom. 75 % water change rinsed gravel and vacuumed till clean.

do I decide what plants first or what fish first , or do a whole new cycle of my tank?

any help would be most welcome

If you have a nice LFS around, see if they'll take him.

Ill check that out but so far I've not had good luck @ lfs with help in any way.

What is the best way to clean the old decorations from the tank ?
right now I have them in a 18 gallon tub filled with water, should I add anything to the water there real dirty in the cracks and places I cant get to with brush?

Try a little white vinegar in the water to clean the decorations. Then rinse them thoroughly.

You could run them through the dishwasher, with no soap of course.

Ok here goes bear with me :D

Water Parameters: 55 gal ph-7.5 ammonia-0 nitrite-0 nitrate-10ppm week (pleco dirty fish) gh-7 kh-7 co2-12 .

Glass In Tank Is 23" tall.

The gravel in my tank is bb sized, about 3" deep, Its Black, and cleaned very thoroughly.
All decorations have been removed and cleaned really well.
Filters have been rinsed, I have a pleco in tank to keep it cycled.

Want to plant tank, Now what are the steps to plant a tank

like eco complete layer how deep and can I put my gravel over it or is that going to be too deep or too heavy

Do I have to let the eco complete sit in tank for awhile before adding plants or can they be added right away

How do I decide what plants to use, IE chose fish first or plants first

Any help would really be apriceated never done this before (like you can't tell)
