Sorry that you lost your fish :( And yes, you got some very bad advice about the number of fish that would be healthy in a 3 gallon tank.

10 gallon starter kits are fairly cheap these days. You could move the remaining fish in there until you can get a good deal on a larger tank. The 10 gallon can always be used for a quarantine or hospital tank afterwards.

As for the 3 gallon, 1 betta would work well in it. Good luck.

The curse of BAD ADVICE.... why oh why would these people tell lies and give bad advice to potential long term customers? if you trust the pet store, and you get good quality fish and advice you will go back and spend more money, so these people just shoot themselves in the foot by doing this. In the end, the fish suffer and that is the worst part.

Before you go any further, do some research, theres is tonnes on the internet. Or go to a reputable store and get sound advise.
