30 Gallon Tank - Canister Filter?

Hello :)

I have a 30 gallon (30" L X 15" W X 16" H) tank which currently holds 4 Yellow Lab cichlids. Now the problem I'm facing with this tank is that the water doesn't appear to be clear at all. It's quite murky. I was wondering if I should get a canister filter for this tank perhaps?

Also, since it's a 30 gallon tank I was thinking will a canister filter be too much for it? The lowest power canister available where I live is the Dolphin C-1000 canister filter which has a maximum flow rate of 900 L/H, I can however adjust the intake and outtake of the filter.

Will getting the canister filter be a better option in keeping tank water clearer? Please advice.

Thanks and Regards,
Souptik

I personally don't have any experience with canister filters, but I have a 30 gallon and I just have 2 hang on the back filters, aquaclear 30 and 50. When I was only running the 30 my tank was a little murky but with two it's perfect. It's an idea to consider anyway.

I would use a canister. They are superior to HOBs in every way.... you wont be disappointed.

How long has the tank been set up for?

My canisters turn the water over close to 10 times an hour - I really don't think it's too much.
