You have a fairly large 45 gallon tank with 6 small, clean tetras. You have more natural diffusion than you have waste products.

I do not see mention of plants in either of the two posts... but I suspect you have a few.

What is the next set of fish you want to add?

Avoid Cichlids, Catfish, and Neon/Cardinal Tetras at the current time. If you next set of 6 or so fish is something other than those, list it here. It is likely time to add the next set of fish.

I have a lot of algae should I buy another school of fish or an algae eater? I'm getting an algae sponge tomorrow either way. Also do tiger barbs work well with black skirts?

I have never kept tiger barbs. I keep saying that I will have them (Fill in the blank here), but every single time something catches my eye instead.

I found this link informative.
Small Barbs

I have seen Tigers and Black Skirts together twice, both times in 55 gallon tanks, and they seem to get along ok. However, my understanding is that with Tigers, a school size of something like 15 individuals should be kept to minimize fin nipping.
