As for cherry barbs, they would work with the gouramis. I would get 6-8 making half normal and half albino. They look great together.
You could also go with 6 ruby barbs, very neat fish that too many people overlook. It occurs to me you need a clean up crew, so red cherry shrimp would work, I'd get at least 12 of them. If not shrimp, corys would work well. I would also add a ramshorn or two to keep things under control.
The molly, it really should be paired up, but mollys are larger than I would go in that tank. If you can rehome the molly I would go with 6-10 male Endlers. Nothing like driving the gouramis insane. They should be fine as I have the same grouping.
I now have 5 cherry barbs and no rainbow. They say Molly's are community not schooling, and it used to be in my 20. Maybe I'll get some albino barbs too :) I have the pleco for clean up? And some shrimp would be cool, small bioload too. I have Corey's in my 20, because they prefer sand. Endlers? Ramshorn? I've heard of that one a few times. Sent from Petguide.com Free App
