Well what about the seaweed at the lfd, will they eat that also? And if so, does anyone know if they sell is at any grocery stores, cause I'm sure it would be less expensive then fish stores. I had an oriental friend when I was younger, and they always kept a supply of seaweed ( something about it being cleansing....i thnk) anyway, never knew where they got it from...shame! O, and I tried it,...it wasn't that bad , but this was years ago, so I could be mistaken!!

Melissa,

What you are trying to think of is Nori, the seaweed (more properly called macro-algae) used to wrap around Sushi. You can buy it at Asian grocery stores, and it is pretty inexpensive. Herefishy is correct, you use aquarium clips designed to hold the macroalgae, and just put the clip on the side of the tank for the fish to nibble on.

What nobody has yet mentioned is that macro algaes thrive in saltwater. If you put them into a freshwater tank they are going to turn to mush and pollute the water, not feed the fish.

Freshwater fish should be fed freshwater algaes or algae wafers, discs, etc.
