2 Dead Fish Today

Hello, I am new to owning an aquarium. I've had my 20 gallon tank set up for about 2 months, the water levels have been fine for a while now, but today my marble molly and upside down catfish died. The marble molly was struggling all morning to stay alive, she would swim for about 10 seconds then float down to the bottom and stay there for a while, eventually she died. The catfish was hiding in one of my caves all morning, when I finally saw him outside of the cave, he was dead covered in some type of whitish film. I have 6 tiger barbs, which I heard could be aggravating my other fish. I also have 2 black mollies and 2 platys (1 is pregnant). My fish seem odd today, they are swimming kind of weird and not really swimming around the tank a lot. My platys seem to be doing the worst right now, as they seem like they are freaking out and staying towards the bottom of the tank. Any suggestions as to why my fish are dying and acting weird? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

To start with do a big water change, at least 50%. Check your filters to make sure they are operating properly. Carefully check the other fish for signs of disease. If you use a filter that has activated carbon replacing the carbon may help. It would be a good idea to leave the lights off for a day if the fish are as stressed as it seems they are.
