If you do use ammonia be sure to find one without, dyes or surfactants (if you shake the bottle and you get bubbles on the top of the bottle it likely has some type of surfactant in it), I found mine at $1 Tree, I have heard that Ace Hardware carries the right kind also, I am cycling my new tank now with pure ammonia and you of course dont need to put any ammonia in the tank while there are fish in it, they emit ammonia through waste. I liked the pure ammonia method because its cleaner, read everything, and the folks on this forum have some great info/input.

FishFancy Lolly!
No fish were harmed in the cycling of this tank
