10g Stocking Question

Hello, I was considering getting a Dwarf or Honey Gourami and 5 Cardinal Tetras for my empty 10g. Would this be suitable, or not? I want to make sure before I decide.

I have two empty tanks, one will be a quarantine, and the other either for these fish, some other combination, or another divided Betta tank.

Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

Bump up the number of cardinals to 6 or 7 and I think your good.
What filter are you using? I would use live plants, the cardinals will lok AMAZING. With a piece of driftwood it would be SOO cool.

Okay. I was just afraid of overstocking. (:

I use Tetra whisper filters since they are in our price range and don't make too strong of a current.

In a 10 gal tank I would do either the honey gourami or the cardinals. It's not quite enough room for both together. A 10 gal is really best left as a sngle-species tank. It's also rather small and can have rapid parameter fluctions which can be hard on the cardinals as they are rather sensitive fish. If you were to choose one or the other, I would go with the honey gourami.

As thekoimaiden said the tank is a little small for both.
The cardinals are very active and they are sensitive to fluctions in temp and PH.

I would go for the dwarf or the honey.

In a 10g i would avoid the gourami, and stay with a group (5-6) of cardinal tetra. You don't mention water parameters, but assuming your source water is soft and acidic as it should be for cardinals, there are some nice "dwarf" fish that would complement them. Or substrate fish, like one of the "dwarf" cory species. Several options are in the profiles.

Byron.

Maybe in stead of Cardinals you could get some Panda or Pygmy cories. They are so cute!! I think they would bew able to go with a gourami. Just an idea.
