Limnophila hippuroides (Limnophila aromatica 'hippuroides')
Limnophila hippuroides (Limnophila aromatica 'hippuroides')
Bought this plant as a bunched cutting, and it took a few months, 4 , for it to take off, and now it is a real looker. Why I like it, well for its looks, the plant grows tall and is bushy, and has quite a few different colors of red, and many shares of bright & darker greens, almost feathery types of leaves.
The place that I purchased the plants from has this description: Limnophila aromatica 'hippuroides' must be included in "the most decorative bunch plant" category. With it's numerous long slender leaves and vivid colors this plant is a 'must have'. It is an easy to grow plant that will tolerate most light levels making it an excellent aquarium plant.
I figure with my lower lighting levels that is the reason it took a while to root itself, and start growing.
Let me also state that these plants are to be handled delicately. Planting can be tough as they will break very easily, but since I planted them there has not been a problem with breakage in the water. I just have large hands, and these plants need gentile fingers.
They are real lookers in the aquarium, the leaves even have some shades of pink, and purple.
Last week I took cuttings from my original plants, and planted them in a different tank. Like I said not a real green thumb person, so lets see how this comes out.
