Wal Mart Bulbs

Well I know they are Aponogetons and Nymphaea but the packs have nothing more than that. It says the Apons are hybrids and the best I can find is they do not need to go dormant. The lillies I have no clue. I have had them before but wanted to fiond some more info on them.

How can you reproduce them? Will they go dormant? If I reproduce the lillies using the cut the pad off and let it float method will it form a new plant? Will the new plant for a new bulb? If I get the Apons to reproduce or get new starts will they eventually form new bulbs or do they simply make sister plants that won't produce a bulb?

Anyone that has a good couple years of experience with them please let me know how they did and how long they lived if they did or didn't go dormant. Also, anyone else regardless of how much experience you have please let me know what type of luck or lack of you have had with them.

Well, Chistopher, as a matter of fact........ I currently have (6) plants, all apondogens, still going in my tanks after 3 years. A couple do go through dormancy. I have an A. ulvaceous that is really a neat plan, but I only see it for about 3 months at a time. I cannot identify them other than to say that the leaves look like those of a small Melon sword.

Well 3 of the 5 Aponogeton bulbs have sprouted. I think 2 are the same and one is a different species. Ialso thnk that the other 2 might one of the ones I have and another species so possible all together 3-4 species form ones box. Not a bad deal if you like a good variety. Still no signs of life from the lillies but didn't expect it yet.

Will post picks of the new starts to kind of show their progress.

Hey I was wondering if there was an update on these? I also bought them. I haven't seen anything from the lillies, and have a good feeling that I won't. ANd with the other package, so far I only got one to sprout :( , I don't know if they need more time, or if they just don't like me , how long should you wait b4 taking out a dead bulb?
