Primrose, Pearlweed, Anubias, Hygrophila polysperma Sunset if it is legal in your area. Just make sure they will grow with the lighting you have. Sunset will grow fast in most setups. Primrose can be finicky but a steady CO2 level seems to help along with good ferts. Pearlweed is a pain to get started but once it does it grows nicely. Mosses can be fun but I don't like them much. Alternathera Rienecki (sp) is another nice one. Most swords will outgrow most tanks in good conditions but Echinodorus Tennelus stays low and smaller.

dont plant swords anyone can grow them- sorry to sound harsh here but- if you intend to venture out and make a great tank set some high standards, the first should be no repeat no swords, the only one you should look at is the Dwarf Sword tennelus.
2. no valiseneria or any of its relatives.

Aim for plants that need CO2 and strong light- google takashi amano for inspiration, then look at tropica plants for an online catalogue of the worlds greatest supplier of aquarium plants.
