Easiest to do is take the driftwood out of the tank, rap the Java Moss
at the spot you want it and tie it down with some sowing thread. Over time the string will dissolve itself and the Java Moss
attaches itself to the driftwood and grow out.
That said I have a piece DW about 14-16" tall where i temporarily tried to store some access Java Moss
a few weeks back, by now the entire DW is covered green, you'd not know any longer there's actually a very nice piece of wood under the green. So depending on the quality of water & nutrition you offer your plants you may have to trim it every so often to keep a certain desired shape.
