Pruning water sprite

I was wondering if the pruned ends of Water Sprite can be floated? I have a nice Water Sprite that is planted and has grown emergent. Can I float the pieces i prune away or do they need roots?

You can float it and it will grow new roots slowly but surely depending on the size of the piece. I have it now and actually had 6 new starts from little 1/2 pieces of leaf I left to float in the tank.

Shows how easy it is to get it to sprout and grow new plants.
