i have gotten some of those tube plants. honestly they are not better then getting them somewhere else. but they are not worse either. i find them cheaper on line and have the same results. though i do find here that i have to be very selective if i do buy the tube plants as they are very dead looking (sometimes down right rotten). petco here sells live plants in a tank. those are ok but sometimes covered in algae so i have to qt them and wash them well before i put them in my tanks (i should say when i used to shop at petco as i will no longer give them my business). honestly i would find a seller on here. look at on online store (i have had great luck with petswarehouse.com) for plants if you intend on buying a lot of them. prices are better. even with shipping.

I have had so so results with the true aquatic plants they sell (swords, Anubias). You need to be careful what you buy though...they sell several plants listed as aquatic plants that aren't (peacock fern for example). Only buy plants that you are 100% about their care.

Thats what I have been doing. I mainly buy the Anubias and swords there. Havent bought anything else really. I look at the how good they look. Some just look awdul, and dead.

Mine are doing okay in play sand, I have four different species of swords. The only time they had trouble was when I forgot the fertalizer for a few weeks

The ones sold at Petsmart/Petco (and all the ones I've gotten online) are sold emersed so in the first month or two they'll be dying leaves left and right as it switches from emersed growth to submerged growth.

They are heavy root feeders though, so I use root tabs with them along with the weekly liquid fertalizer.
