How about 1 or 2 bamboo plants? They are inexpensive and grow very easily under room light. I had few of them in my 5g tank and had no problems. Wish that poor betta the best!

Thanks Greenkiwi I know some bamboo will grow in water but some will not I am not sure what the kind is that will.

the standard kind they sell in the pet store will work, just make sure the leaves are above water.

Ok if I can not confense her that he needs to come home with me were I can take good care of him and she will not accept my much better tank I will at least get him a bamboo plant for his home.
