Okay guys and gals here are some pics of my newly planted tank along with my Columbian tetras which just finding out may not be the right fish for me later on being I was wanting to put angelfish in there later on

Beautiful setup. What are the tall spindly plants in the far back?

Not sure which one u r talking about but I now some of the ones in the back are swords and jungle val. And corkscrew val. And some others not sure of the names LoL sorry

I suppose its the jungle val., it has long ribbon-like leaves like an aponogeton but much more vertical. Is that correct?

Yeah I thinking Soo not to familiar with plants first time I have planted a tank but there r others here that could probably could tell u better

Nice job, Boredomb. If I was a fish I'd want to live in your tank! I also have a shoal of Columbian tetras. They are like piranhas at feeding time, lightning fast fish. The only thing I would add is that you should change your heater placement. It's best to have it vertical, like you do, only all the way near the bottom of the tank. You'll get better heat distribution that way.

Thank you Aunt Kymmie! This is my first attempt at a planted tank. I do like the way it looks also. Thanks for the tip about the heater placement will change that in the morning. Btw with the Columbian tetras I noticed their feeding habites today when I feed then LoL they are pretty quick fish then LoL Do you think I could have angelfish with them in your opinion? When I bought them today at LFS the guy said the were will calm fish and great tank mates. I went to get some black widow tetras but he didn't have any but had those thought they were pretty fish. He DIDN'T tell me about their feeding behavior though.

Actually, I have never kept angels so I can't say. I keep Discus and there is no way I'd ever keep these tetras with that particular fish! My Columbians are in a community tank with a various assortment of fishes. I have to use a turkey baster to "shoot" food down in the area where my dwarf cichlids and loaches hang out. If I didn't do that I think the Columbian would get all the food, the bottom dwellers would get shafted. The Columbians are very pretty but I'm doubting Angels would be very happy with them. They are just too darn zippy.

Also, I have to ask. What is the lattice like "thing" in the background? If you were to put up a black background on this tank it would make the greenery of your plants pop, your fish too.

PS. For a first time planted tank you did an amazing job!

LoL! I didn't really pay attention to the "lattice like thing". Well okay it is actually lattice it is there for a temp fix to my stairwell. It is covering up the huge holes on my stair railing. The railing was not made for infinites. My Daughter is 2 now and for the most part stays away from the stairs but the lattice is there soo she doesn't fall through the railing down the steps. It work greats and it comes right off with no damage to the railing. Attached with zip ties LoL

Yeah am thinking that angelfish r out of the question now so u said that your columbians are in a community tank.What other fish do u have in there?
