your better off just throwing them in the tank until they open up and then plant them.. ive tried 3 packages of these before. the out of the 2 packs of aponogetons ive have only 2 of them "sprout" but i must say they are doing fantastic and 1 is growing a baby plant. out of the 1 pack of lilies ive tried ive had no luck.
i think the bulbs are all in a "dormant state" so i really think its a hit or a miss.
your prob. better off going to an actual fish store and picking up a plant or two. ( be warned! they sell plants not meant for underwater, so do your homework!! )
anarchis, Java Moss, Java Fern ( attach to driftwood ) are some examples of hardy, low light, easy to keep plants but there are more.
if you get a few plants and the conditions are right in a few months they will either grow off-spring or can manually be propogated, so a few plants in time can fill a tank fairly nicely for not as much money as you think. again do your research and goodluck!
