Need help with water wisteria

Hi i got several water Wisteria plants. they started growing curved (probably from growing under the filter= they grew in the path of least resistance i think) and I want them to grow straight. How would I correct that? Also I want them to grow more horizontaly with stems growing sideways like a tree or bush because its currently growing straight up with a single stem and a few leaves left around the bottom/middle because the leaves are growing at the top. Anyone with experience with water Wisteria please help.

the tank I have is a low tech 20g with sand substrate (from Home depo). 19 watts florecent lighting. The fauna i have is 1 male betta, 4-5 ghost shrimps, 2 ottos, 5 danios, 6 unknown small fish I think they are Guppy fry.

looks nice and healthy to me. maybe move it away from the filter?

Wisteria, scientifically Hygrophila difformis, is a fast-growing stem plant that will grow towards the strongest light source. Usually straight up, but if other plants, filters, heaters get in the way of the light, it grows "around" them. And once at the surface, if not pruned back from the bottom (by pulling it up, cutting off the top portion to replant) it will bend 90 degrees and grow along the surface. All plants grow towards the light source, and this one, being a fast growing stem plant, is quicker to do so.

I personally like this plant for the reason that it will do this. I have my 70g SE Asian tank full of this plant, check out the photos under my Aquariums to see what it is like if left alone. I don't prune it much because I need heavy surface cover in this tank for the Chocolate Gourami and pygmy Sparkling Gourami [gourami need surface vegetation to swim amongst, build bubblenests, release fry, and they spend a lot of time at the surface breathing air), and their continual fry.
