Unfortunately goldfish eat plants, so there are quite a few to keep away from. I've tried many things with mine and so far the only things they haven't demolished were java fern, java moss, dwarf lilies, and onion plants. You should be able to keep other sturdy plants with them like swords and vallisneria. I'm not sure on hairgrass (dwarf or giant), but I've personally seen them mow down ludwigia, wisteria, all kinds of aponogeton, pennywort, a crypt, and anacharis. They wouldn't touch hornwort either but personally I think it's a rather unattractive plant.
Those are just things that I've tried though; your fish could be totally different. I'm sure there are others here that can chime in on what has and hasn't worked in their planted goldfish tanks. |
