Lucky Bamboo?

Can you put lucky bamboo, those curly ones you find at fairs and new age stores, into a tank? Do you think it would die in a tank?

Lucky Bamboo is not real bamboo, first off.

You can sometimes see those at like a Petsmart, and I have used them before. You just need to make sure some of the plant along with the leaves are out of the water.

Well obviously its not really bamboo. I think everyone knows that. I just thought i didn't have to clarify myself. Anyways, do you think it can survive for long in a tank. I heard somewhere that its not really supposed to be submerged for long periods of time.

i think in the long run it will rot.

Like I said, the leaves and some part of the stalk need to be out of water. Then it grows well. If not, then it rots.

I have a true bamboo shoot growing in a tank. It is anchored in the tank, half submerged and kept up by a peg and string. The root system looks like it could be a good spawning mop when larger.

Lucky bamboo is a dracenea plant. It is not a true aquatic plant. It has to have it's tops exposed out of the water.
