I only ordered 1 for my 55g. You can split the three plants as you wish. Like Angel stated, they will shoot out runners very quickly and fill in in just a few months time. I only ordered one at her suggestion

Johnny, if there are 3 to a pot, one pot is plenty. I bought one lone plant in October 2008 and within 5 months it was everywhere in the 90g tank. I pull up runners and plantlets every 2 weeks to keep it in check along the front. Which is fine, it is a good plant for the front and substrate cover, grows fast so is filtering the water well, and it must be happy.

In my 115g I have a similar Chain Sword, E. quadricostatus, slightly larger leaves. These plants are direct decendants from one plant I bought in 1997. I also yank these out regularly.

they make 'aquascaping scissors?? or are they household scissors that you've deemed aquascaping scissors??

LOL, Eric! I bought "aquascaping scissors" too. I threw them in with my order from Fosters and Smith. Johnny, they're really only stainless steel scissors, but nice and sharp to cut plants easier. Here are the one's I got. Reef Aquariums & Planted Aquariums Care: Aquatic Tissue Scissors I got the 6 1/2" pair. Most plant keepers will probably tell you they are not needed. Plants can just be pinched at the base with your fingers, but I thought these might be good for those stubborn plants that just don't want to cooperate

I also have a pair. They come in very handy as you can be much more precise in your pruning than you can be with "fingers".

On drs foster and smith they have a 24" pair. I want those but they are $65.
And for pinching the leaves. Yeah if you're a girl with nails. I pinch and stuff starts coming out of the substrate because I have to pinch, squeeze, twist. I have no nails long enough. If I even so much as breathe near my dwarf onions they pop out. Hell, all I have to do is wake up and some are floating. Like this am. But man are they growing.

And not if you're a girl with "man hands", lol. I also wanted that 24" pair but just couldn't part with $65.00 for a pair of scissors. I purchased a pair of 7" hair cutting scissors (Lacross stainless steel) with long blades and deemed them "aquatic scissors". They work great and were less than 10 bucks.

hahah i think i'll get a pair of regular hair cutting scissors and deem them "the ultimate plant cutting wizzard scissors" hahahaha
