Java Fern Ancoring

Hey guys! Just a quick and random question - I have a Windelov java fern that has been in my tank since I started it around 4-5 months ago. It's never looked all that healthy and has never really appeared to grow much outside of it's attaching quite firmly to it's rock, but while lightly vacuming the area around it the other day, what appears to be a very healthy plantlet fell off of it. After being dislodged, it drifted a few inches away and hasn't moved since (36-48 hours). If left to it's own devices, will the plantlet just anchor itself to the gravel below it, or should I lightly tie it down to something to help it along?

Either will work. If left alone, it may find something to attach to. If it is close to the substrate, the true roots may grow down into the substrate, which is fine provided the rhizome is not buried.
