Hygro, Anacharis, and java fern...

I currently have these plants in my low light 30g. They are doing great!

However, I'm starting a 10g puffer tank and wish to plant it as well.

I'm wondering - could I take clippings from these plants and put them in the 10g and have them grow into new plants?

As far as starting new plants, yes on the first two (hygrophila and anacharis); they are stem lants and any piece of any stem you separate by cutting will establish as a new stem plant. With Java Fern, daughter plants are normally formed on the leaves, these can be gently pulled off and attached to objects as new plants; the rhizome also can be broken apart and the pieces (provided they have a leaf or two) attached as new plants.

Some puffer species are maintained in brackish water, and many plants will not live with salt in the water. As long as it is freshwater, you can follow the above and increase your plants.

so just trimmed up the hygro and arachairs. put them in the tank they look good.

but for the java fern basically all i did was find the biggest leaf and follow it all the way down then snip it and relocated it to the other tank - that was what i was suppose to do correct?

That should be fine. It's quite a hardy plant. Don't plant the rhizome in the gravel, that can kill it. Attach it to wood, rock, something like that, with a piece of black thread, or just wedge it between two rocks, it will take hold with its roots in a few days or so.
