Help with Anacharis shedding!

Ive got a mini Anacharis forest growing in my 55 gallon.
They shed thier leaves so much, my filter intakes get clogged with them, they litter the substrate, andwhen i try to vacuum them up, the plants come up! Do i have to replant everytime?

What do you guys do? Is there a reason this is happening?

This is after i already cleaned it all up yesterday!
They all seem to fall over as well.
They are inter a filter, but a 20 gallon one, and the water shouldent be having that much of an effect on them..

I never try these varieties of plants for this very reason. Many of them need good light, which tends to mean bright, and good nutrients to balance, including CO2, or they fall apart. But in the case of Anacharis, or Egeria densa, it is most likely the higher temperature. As it mentions in our profile (click the shaded name) this species is best in cool water, and in warmer water, as around 77F, tends to disintegrate. That's why this plant is often used in Goldfish tanks.

This is unavoidable as stem plants tend to just grow and shed their lower leaved to maximize the amount of energy absorbed and expended. I put a prefilter on my filter, sponge outside the intake, to prevent the leaves from getting into the filter. This way, I can pull off the prefilter, rinse it and replace it.

What temp would they be best at? In the tank are guppies, cherry barbs, cories and a betta.
What other faster growing plants could i use? Im looking for height, not width.
I have one 48 in long t5 2700k an d one 36 inch longt8 2800k, the tank is about 21 inches tall. Im always having problems with my plants in that tank, as i have another plant that grow in my 2.5 and got huge! i put it in the 55, and it promptly turned brown and disintegrated. the 2.5 only has a desk lamp with an energy saver spiral bulb thats 14 watts. im not even sure what that plant is, its like an Amazon Sword, but the leaves are rounded on the end, and the edges have a slight ripple. it was tall, about 8 inches, til it fell apart, now im trying to regrow it in my 5.5, and that has a ten gal hood on it, with two of the 14 watt bulbs.

I also just bought some green hedge, and returned it, since i found out it wasnt actually aquatic. I kept a branch though, and was wondering how i should house the little guy.
When i returned the green hedge, i picked up a small Amazon Sword. Im not familiar with this plant at all, and will be reading the profile, but if there is any advice or wisdom you guys can give me, thatd be great!

Your K rating is off. Its too low for plants. Bulbs with a rating of 6500k are best. This might be one reason you are having problems in this tank.

I agree on changing at least one of the tubes to a 6500K (or around that); the second tube can be either of the ones you have.

But having said that, we need to know the whole picture if we are going to attempt any diagnosis of issues. Tank size, fertilizers being added and how much, GH of tap water.

To your question on the temp, I would set this to accomodate the fish, and the temps for these are in our profiles.
