Growing Algae Faster

Hi folks. I was just wondering if there's a way I can get algae to grow more quickly on a new piece of driftwood I put in the other day. I have one small thin piece that already has a little bit of algae on it. I don't want it growing out of control; just on the driftwood for my pleco. He doesn't seem to have much to eat elsewhere besides the wafers I give him. Not like tossing in a wafer is all that hard; I just think he'd like some fresh food added to his diet. So if you guys could tell me how to get a couple more small patches started, my pleco and I would certainly appreciate it. Or if you all seem to agree that it's a bad idea to promote any algae growth, lemme know. Thanks.

Put the piece of wood in the bucket of water. Put a pinch of fishfood in the bucket and place the bucket under direct sunlight. Expect green algal growth. Works for me when I needed it for my hillstream loaches.

cucmber/zucinni(sp) brocoli.
i find my plecs enjoy these,as do the loaches.

Some fertilizer and water in sunlight works best. Expect green water first and then the algae will start growing on the driftwood. If oyu had 3-5 pieces you could rotate them out so you always some fresh algae to put in there for the pleco.

Both my common and BN plecos loved Zucchini and cucumbers.
