good place to get quality java moss?

im not 100% on that as i always used the fishing line.

i would imagine either would work, and by the time it starts to break down the moss will have started to attach

something that breaks down can be useful.. dependning how long it takes.. if its decintergrates over a month it will be perfect.. saves you from fidling around trying to cut it.. rubber bands can be good too.. if the shape of the object suits.. with my big tank i would like to try and make a bit of a mat with Java Moss.. maybe 50cm by 10-15 wid accross the back corner maybe..

yupp i def. have seen moss walls.

and ofcourse a rubber band would work, but in my opinion, clear fishing line or black/green/brown thread would be less noticable

Thanks for the info guys, it helped. I always thought something that would break down would be harmful to the fish. If I used black cotton thread it would break down but clear fishing line sounds good too. Thanks!

I've used cotton thread before. Let me check something...yep, cotton thread that's been in my tank for maybe six months is still intact. I used brown and you can't see it unless you're looking for it.

The moss growing in the community tank has actually been growing really slowly. I started with about....a foot long heap about 2" thick and 4" across on top of my rocks. It had grown out to maybe 18" long, 6 or 7" across and about 5" thick. I just yanked a bunch out to stuff into my twiggy "tree" in the tank so now I've got much less of it on the rocks. However, I put some in my Guppy breeding tank not long ago and that stuff's growing *much* faster. I can send some out to people now if they'd like, or if you give me a month or two I'll have bigger clumps to send.
