My dwarf chain swords have long runners though, i think hairgrass runners sprout new plants at much shorter distances than Chain Sword runners, thats why it creates the illusion of a lawn so well. How long has this plant been in the tank, and has it been moved since planted? All my plants that use runners took a long time to send out runners because they wont spread until they are properly acclimated, my dwarf chain swords didnt start to spread for at least a month. The rocks beside it shouldnt matter, the plant will just reach it, probably drop a plant, and then move on. Cutting the runners will cause it to stop spreading for a while, my mother plants always stop sending runners for months after I cut their babies off of them.
