I am getting close to the point I am going to have to start scooping some out, I would gladly send you some! but not sure it'd last all the way to Canada... sadly. is it possible to get a 1 or 2 day courier delivery maybe? probably cost a fortune.. which one are you referring to? the one I refer to as water lettuce? I love them both, although it can be a pain at water change time, in fact any hand in tank, feeding, or any time...lol but it looks super nice! and I like that the fish have shade from the bright lights. and my Anubias and Java Fern is thanking me for it!

there you go, did a search for water lettuce on ebay.ca and came up with a result. whether you wold trust them or not...is another matter? might be worth a try.

I ended up with Duckweed as a hitchhiker plant too. I think it came hidden in the Cabomba because I was very thorough going over every large leafed plant I bought before putting anything in the tank. I seem to be skimming the little buggers out weekly. It grows unbelievably fast, and doesn't seem to care about the high water flow in the tank either. Grrrrrrrr!

My Goldfish just eat all the Duckweed like nothing so it's not a problem I got some free for the LFS and they ate it all...

The issue is more with customs. Countries generally don't like you transporting living things across borders. While possible, it can cause hold ups that take ages and the plants die due to how long it takes.

Yes that's a shame... It's understandable though, there could be all kinds of foreign parasites and diseases being carried on Imported live stuff... I did find someone selling water lettuce on the Canadian eBay... So Byron could buy some that way.. Shame when I'm gonna be chucking some away before long..

Both Canada and the USA have laws on live plants/fish crossing the border, and as Geo said, it is usually the delay that is the issue. Though they may refuse entry completely. Unfortunately all the environmental issues from invasive plants being released into the wild plus the increase in fish diseases and species being released has brought us to these times. I have shipped plants into the USA a couple times, but I no longer will due to the uncertainty and likely demise of the plants.
