Do i have plant algae ?

Hi i have a brown / red kinda fur dust on my big green leafed plants ,i believe its algae,do u think this could be due to having my tank lights on for too long(9-10 hrs) its only on the big leafed flat plants ,others seem to be fine.ive attached a pic of the leafs in question many thanx 8

Sorry, couldn't tell from the picture. Based on your description, if it's a new tank, I'd guess diatoms? You'll need to post more info. How long has the tank been set up, tank size, water change freq, light type, light duration, fertilizers, water conditions, etc. Then folks here will be able to help you out better!

hi tank size is 190 ltrs water change 10% fortnightly /ph 7,been set up for over a month for plants but tank been going for 1 year,i use nutrafin plant gro ,25 ml per week ,and co2 1 bubble per second,lights are 1x warm /1 xday lite both 18w and on for between 8-10 hrs a day....hope this helpss thanx for ur reply..

Well, I'd definately get rid of the warm white light... 'cool white' or 'daylight' is much better.

That being said, it's impossible to have a tank without a small amount of algae. Algae is a natural part of any aquatic ecosystem. Don't worry about it unless it threatens to choke off your plants or gets out of hand.
