Yes I said the lower one and I also said that the Cascades are very powerful filters and in order to not flush your fish nor plants out of the tank, that's why I had said that model cause it will do the work without being too much (which you'd not want on a planted tank).
So if you wanna go with the 400 model on the top right above the outlet dial that WAYYY down as far as you can get it when you get the filter in then.
The internal will def be muchhhh less noise (regardless what model now) then the sponge filter I can tell you tat much. I have the 600 here and unless I push my ear to the side of the tank while the house is 110% quiet I don't hear nothing and even then only a lil humming and I'd hope you don't sleep with your ear against the tank anyway.

It'll come with a carbon pack; keep it in case you need to medicate; otherwise do not put that in your filter that'll extract all nutrition the plants will need to thrive.


Don't just go out and buy now; see if you can find deals, stuff on sale at your pet store around you etc, even if you only safe a few bucks here & there in the end you may safe $10 and that'll make for few plants already!

Ya, but I'm trading my best buy gift card to my friend for some cards to like walmart (for the test), pet solutions for the filter and sweet aquatics (visa gift cardd maybe)... so I only have so idkk. I guess I still could.

But at the moment I plan to buy:

I tried to find easy to care for plants that looked nice. Any recommendations on what to add or subtract are appreciated! :) Some of them were in the "2" difficulty, but they looked nice, and were around 1.50$ for the ones that were in the "2" so heck why not... I mine as well try them!

I really like the plant bunches they are a bargain and they have some nice plants! Will these end up taking root and growing like the other plants? :) They are good deals.

If these plants are for the 29 gallon. I think you have to much. The Amazon Sword and red rubin will outgrow your tank in about 6-10 months. Also keep in mind the bunch plants will grow up to 1-2" a day per stem once established. Giving you plenty to fill in any empty spaces. Take it slow you can always add more in the future. I would recommend the following to start off with.

1 sword plant (consider red melon gets 8-10")
1 Java Fern
12 sag subulata
5 bunch plants
2 potted crypts (best value)
Anubias bare root for your rock would be cool

Thanks for the input. I'll look into getting some of the crypts and getting rid of some of the bunch plants maybe. I still really like the bunch plants because they are cheap and so if I have extras I end up not wanting or need to trim down, I won't have a huge problem getting rid of it. :p

Will my plants flourish in the current light? It still seems VERY dim to me... :S

Oh and another question! What kind of iron supplements will I need? How much are iron supplements usually?

and @sweetaquatics... if ur reading this, do u sell iron supplements? I didn't see any on the site but mine as well ask. :)

Oh and I ordered the test kit. It should be here between next tuesday and next friday it said.

You do not want iron supplements. Years ago I nearly killed my plants using just iron. Plants need 17 nutrients in balance. Read the sticky Austin, it is all explained; nutrients is covered in parts 1 and 2.

Personally, I would reduce the stem plants; you have more than would fill a 90g, they grow fast. With your crypts, the Anubias and Java Fern (which attach to rock or wood remember), the sword [see below], and the Sagittaria which spreads quite quickly once established (you can see it in my 90g flooded Amazon forest photos), I would only go with the Cabomba as a nice contrast.

On the sword, just so you know, it will look vastly different in the aquarium. The photo linked is the plant grown emersed; attached is a photo of the plant grown submersed. As with most swords, the emersed leaves die off and the new growth is the submersed form.

I think on the 2nd list if you were to go with Water Wistera, Ludwigia and Rotal only you'll be happier. Each time they reach the surface let them grow another ~2" pinch of the tops and replant them. And maybe get a 2nd Anubia or so; bare in mind thou they do best when attached to a piece of Driftwood or rock.

Just go with the normal shipping SA offers there; the way they prepp and pack the plants I never had a issue there.

For your liquid ferts plants need more then only iron; ideally you'd wanna get a all in 1 comprehensive fert. I have looked and not found them online with SA neither but if you're order the cascade anyway get this one there

That's the one Austin listed, Echinodorus X barterii "Red Melon". It is a cultivar developed by Tropica I believe. I do have one (not the one in the photo) and mine is a bit smaller and more brownish-red than red, due to the other conditions in the aquarium. It has sent out flower spikes a couple of times and I have a couple of daughter plants in my spare plant tank.
