Hi Im Liam 14 year old i have just saved up and bought a AQUA ONE EVO 70, it has been set up five weeks now but i have been trouble getting the Nitrite levels down and advised to buy some live plants to add to the artificial ones that i had planted it out with.

These plants have been in the tank now for 8 days, but last night i noticed that all the plants have got some kind of caterpillars type insect growing inside the leaves. I first noticed this because i saw a leaf walking up the inside the tank.

Has anybody got any idea what they are and how i can get clear off them.

I've had a lone caterpillar on ambulia before. I just snipped off the leaves cocooning it and threw it.

I think thats one of the plants i have got, i must have about 50 little creamy/green caterpillars and like yours they have raped them selves in the leaves and are climbing about the tank.

Snip the wrapped leaves off and just throw them off before they could damage your plants.

How should i remove them

Manually. I've only encountered one though so it wasn't that hard. Won't recommend any chemicals just for the sake of your fish. A number of dead caterpillars in your tank would mean disaster.
