Have any of you used the lucky bamboo in ur tanks? I've heard both good and bad things, but not really from a reliable source. Was hoping to get everyones input???
I had it but the plant died in about 2 months. I would not recommend it, but in some tanks they are quite beautiful and worth the trouble. Overall, i do not like the plant, not very lucky for me!
I've heard a lot of things about lucky bamboo being grown in fertilizer that is toxic to fish, so that would be my #1 concern. If you're absolutely, completely positive that it is fertilizer free, you can give it a try. It is not a fully aquatic plant, so it will die eventually, but it's pretty hardy and may last a while.
If you're looking for a plant to *grow* in your tank however, this is not the one.
Mine was not labled as "lucky bamboo", but I think it is. I know it wasnt used in ferts. I have had it in my tank since January, and it has been growing bigger and sprouting off new shoots ever since I put it in. I guess I got "lucky."
Lucky bamboo is not a truely aquatic plant. The roots need to be submerse, but that is about it. You could try buying the really long stem one, so that some of the leaves are emersed.
