Anyone care to help me run an experiment?

I'm not going to mention what the experiment is yet, but it has the potential to revolutionise the hobby. I need participants that:

1. Have extra plant trimmings or plantlets. (stem cuttings are fine, number of species doesn't matter.)
2. Own a good water testing kit.(A reliable liquit kit is adequate.)
3. Have a number of jars available, and a well-lit or sunny window to keep them in.
4. Have the time and motivation to participate in an experiment that values accuracy. (After initial setup, 5-15 minutes per week at the most for at least a month, preferably 3. At the conclusion, maybe a half hour to process the data.)

A accurate scale (that can measure mg) or a high quality camera is required. Both preferred.

If anyone has a biology, microbiology, or chemistry background, they are welcome to follow the experiment. (and possibly attempt to explain any weird results we may get)
If you have any such background, please pm me. I willbe glad to discuss the parameters with you.

(And before you try to guess, it is not related to soil or substrates.)

Red how many extra plants are we talking about here? Also what type, rooted or stem or both? What kind of jars? When you say "good" test kit are you talking about API Master test kit? Or something that can test for more?? Also how time involve are talking about? A few mins a day a couple hours? A little more details would be good.

When are you looking to start?
Can one join in after the official start, or do all the participants need to start and end together?

I'm just waiting to see how many people are interested atm. There isn't really a set start date yet, but I'm thinking it would be best to wait till after the holidays.

I'd most likely give it a go, depending on the parameters of the experiment.
I have time and some patience, and will be able to donate some plants to a good cause.
Just need to find some jars...

Gallon or quart jars would be preferred... Something of a 'measurable and even volume (to make my maths easier)

Might have to wait for canning season if they all have to be the same size.

3 equally sized containers, you could use drinking glasses or bowls. As long as the containers are similiar enough (same type of material, same volume of water) it would be okay. Jars, glasses, or bowls could all work.
