Another plant newbie

Is it weird to be excited about getting plants?
My real question is: is some degree of melting normal? I have crypt and about 4-5 of the leaves have melted. It does have new growth and I will be getting some Flourish today. I wanted to add that I am currently cycling fish-in my 20g tank. It houses Java Fern (2 types), the crypt, and Java Moss. I am hunting for Water Sprite and maybe Duckweed.

It's pretty normal for plants to melt when parameters change, and crypts are infamous for it. As long as there is new growth, you'll be fine.

I get excited about plants too. Be sure you keep up the waterchanges, those aren't enough plants to absorb all the ammonia.
