If the roots are not fully in the gravel, will this plant still grow?

I had my light a few weeks ago, its a 27 watt, daylight desk lamp and I also dose flourish excel too but I keep pulling yellow leaves off and some have brown specks also, but when I pulled the plant out to take the leaves off, the roots are bright white, thick and long so if the roots are healthy then why aren't the leaves?

Thanks

Sometimes the swords shed older leaves simply as a matter of how they function. Similarly, if you just got these guys then they may be reacting to a change in the water from where you bought them to now. As long as the roots are healthy I wouldn't worry. Especially in low light, vigorous growth isn't expected.

I've actually had them over 4 months but they were currently in my 12 gallon tank, where the roots were black and rotting so when my desk lamp turned up I put them in to my 6.5 UK gallon tank and the roots are looking incredible but some of the leaves have yellow dots and even black edges to them.

Burnsbabe is correct. But to be safe, can you post a photo of one of the entire plants (don't need to see the roots, just the leaves from Crown to tip)? I've had Echinodorus plants of several species for about 20 years, so a photo may suggest something.

Byron.

Is the Excel the only thing you're dosing? You might want to try the Flourish Comprehensive instead and also a root tab. Swords are heavy feeders.
