I wouldn't cut them till they actually melt. Just a thought but the brown is it just on those leaves or on anything else?

Its just the leaves that are brown.

ok this might sound crazy but have you tried to wipe it off the leaves? It kinda looks like diatoms a little.....

Lol Alright ill give it a try when i get Home from work! I was looking around on here and it seemed that the plant is a Lutea Crypt.

I tried rubbing the plant and what do you know, it worked!!!! What was the stuff that was on it?

From the looks of the Pic and it coming off I would say Diatoms.Though it could have be just debris. How old is this tank?? Diatoms are common in new setups. Though it would and is usually over or on more stuff then just one plant and this wasn't on anything else including the glass?

I also I would still keep an eye on the crypt as it could still go through a melt. Though it may not. I got some crypt Wendtii and those never melted on me but my Lutea Crypt did. Its hit or miss. Too many variables to try and figure what exactly caused one of mine to and not the other 2 .LoL

My tank is about a Month and a half old. The brown stuff only occurred on the plant, there is no sign of it anywhere else. I think my plant will end up going through a melt since i can see a small hole in one of the leaves that wasn't there earlier.

A month and a half is still fairly new so it could've been diatoms and you may see more as time goes on or you may not.
