ADA Aqua Soil Question

Originally I was going to go with Eco complete with a potting soil underneath but after snagging on a great deal today I think I got enough Aqua soil to fill my 10 gal.

Are you guys adding any layers under the aqua soil or is the nutrients sufficient enough alone? Looking to get a good carpet in..

Also one of the bags had been open for a while.. does that effect it at all?

I don't think Aquasoil is that popular on these forums. From what I understand, ADA recommends that the aquasoil is used with a few of their other products like the solid powder ferts. However, I have read a lot about how ADA AS can be used on its own like eco-complete.

Another thing, I would avoid using eco-complete with soil. Soil breaks down clay and I have heard that combining soil and eco-complete can result in iron poisoning in the water as the eco-complete breaks down too quickly.

You're speaking in dirt soil correct? What about mixing aqua soil with eco?

I believe Eco is clay based but doesnt actually have high nutritional content with the exception of iron, so I think it should be fine since I don't think ADA will break down eco like soil would. However I am not certain on this so you might want to do some checking.
