Depends on the fixture. Typically a nice dual fixture will run just a single bulb if you remove the other one. I am pretty sure coralife ones do. Some of the cheap fixtures will not as that function depends on the ballast and cheap fixture means cheap ballast.

Ok i found this: Hagen Glo T5HO single lighting 24"(but dosent come with a bulb). It seems good and comes with a suspension kit. So has anyone used this before? It seems good.

Yes. But I'm wondering if you might not be jumping the gun here. Having just spent money for what is a decent fixture (by which i mean it's made well, and is certainly sufficient light for most plants once you have a good tube in it), why spend more for something else? What makes you think the light you have (I assume you have the Aqueon hood with the T8 fixture like mine) is not OK? Once we know this, it will be easier for us to hone in on this or that.

Yes i have the aqueon hood with light but what would be a good bulb then. I also have one of those skrew on bulb fixtures if that would help but its small, could i possibly double with the t8 and the other? But thank you for holding up(i must sound stupid).

OK, I'm going to backtrack a moment to recapitulate about planted tanks. The amount of light you need over a tank depends upon the type of planted tank you want. Many plants will manage fine with moderate light such as i have; I posted a photo previously. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the plant growth in that tank, it is lush and steady. But I am staying with low and moderate light plants, because my first priority is always the fish. Bright overhead light is stressful, so my plants have to manage with what light I am prepared to provide.

If you want difficult plants that require brighter light, you will have to also provide diffused CO2 and more frequent fertilization to balance.

One T8 tubes will work. You can get a Life-Glo 6700K or a ZooMed UltraSun 6700K from a fish store, they are more expensive. Or you can go to a hardware store and get a 6500K "daylight" tube by GE, Sylvania, Phillips for a couple dollars, much less expensive. A 24-inch tube with 6500K is what you are looking for.

Ok thank you like alot. So 24" t8 6,700k(or aroun there) bulb. Also, for the t8 fixture does it have a good reflector? Is there diy that i can use? Also those skrew in bulbs, i have a fixture so i can fit cfl in that right? If can i could use both lights right?

I saw no need to increase the reflective capability of the fixture. CFL daylight 6500K bulbs work with incandescant (screw-in) fixtures. But i would not use both. You won't need that much light, but more to the point you can't fit both on the hood. Either or; but the fluorescent will be less expensive to operate.
