Silly me, I forgot this was geographically a SE Asian setup.

When I imagine this scape in my head, and considering that I don't know you're planned wood and rock work and hardware setup, but just using my imagination, it goes something like this...

1 Temple Hygro in left rear corner.
Multiple Apons in right rear corner.
Plugs of Dwarf Hairgrass in right fore-ground.
1 Water Sprite floating middle top.
1 Large Java Fern center. or left of center.
1 Small Java Fern left fore- to mid-ground.
1 Red Crypt right mid-ground.

I hope you can imagine that. I wish I could draw you a picture of what I mean! To me, this gives nice contrast in heights, leaf shapes, and colors. But, since I've never scaped a 10g, maybe that's too much. When I don't have the actual plants and actual tank to play around with, I cut out a piece of paper the size of the tank footprint and a piece the size of the rear wall. I tape the rear paper to a wall and put the footprint on the floor in front of it. Then I take a pencil and draw circles for the footprints of the plants in their intended spots, and that gives me a much clearer idea of actual spacial relations.

So if that's too much, you could ditch the Temple Hygro and one of the Java Ferns.

I agree on ditching special substrates. With liquid ferts and maybe root tabs for the rooted plants, you should be fine.

Just my thoughts, I hope you can decide what you want!

ive not had any experience with C.thalictroides but the reading ive done leads me to believe its not that far off of the one byron was speaking of. If anything, it gets taller, and has finer leaves. They can both be planted or floating. I have C. cornuta I just added to my 20L and 55 as floaters and they are doing just fine, and look neat. For a 10g, keep in mind that under decent lighting the red crypt will reach the top of the water, so going with that OR the Wisteria was a wise choice IMHO. thats alot of background plant!

Im thinking the sprite if left floating will shade the crypt to slow it down a tiny bit, and the dwarf hairgrass will fill in the front nicely I would even say that once you get some new Water Sprite sprigs, they can be planted along the back too to mix it up.

that would make a gorgeous looking 10 imho

edit: im not sure how I feel about Java Fern in this set up due to the space constraints, but I think I like the idea of aponogeton!

Sounds great! I kind of like the idea of stem plants because they grow super fast, but I think the suggestions listed will look much, much better long-term!

Instead of sketching out an illustration of the plants and whatnot, I'll probably just take a bunch of pictures after I get the plants in (hopefully sometime between Wednesday and Friday since I haven't ordered them yet). I may also sketch something if it is difficult to see or distinguish between certain species.

I will probably make the order with the plants as listed. I really appreciate all the input that went into making the list! Like I said, hopefully I'll post some pictures in a few days, but I think the plant planning part of it is over. Unless of course anyone wanted to add something, but even then I think my mind is pretty much decided.

They didn't have the Water Sprite when I went to order . It is a $30 minimum order, so I have to order something else. I guess I'll just order 5 crypts (instead of 4) and 2 hairgrass (instead of 1).

cool cool. If you dont mind C. Cornuta and maybe a bit of a wait, when my sprite starts spreading ill hack some off for ya. Look it up on the web, C. Cornuta vs. C.thalictroides... I could throw it in an envelope for ya if you like it.
