At first I read this as "I am so bored"

First I laughed. Than I thought, what a weird place to announce it, as I realized which thread the e-mail had directed me to. Then I thought, how the hell, with all those kids and animals, is she ever bored? She'd be thankful for a break.

Then I reread it.

lol no the zoo keeps me buys...always something to clean, ground, or seperate. lol. actually i am getting everything ready for some fish/plant trades i am doing today! lol. so getting new crap to keep me busy. lmfao

To be completely honest here (I am going to tell on myself) I haven't checked the water parameters lately just have been doing weekly water changes and even those I had to skip a couple of times due to my work schedule. That was before I got the new puffers
Since then I have done regular water changes but still haven't checked the parameters.
When I took out the gravel it was soo nasty so I am sure the Nitrates were up in this tank. :( Also the water lettuce is just falling apart. Thinking due to my filter and the water movement. So I took it out and I will be looking for a new floating plant. Think I might get some wisteria and float it as I have growen it like that in the past.
As for the playing it safe with the sand and bloodworms. It does make it alot easier to find and suck up unbeaten food. Which I will be doing for now on. Along with checking my parameters on a regular bases. I am have been bad I know but working 10-12 a day 6-7 days a week and trying to spend time with my family to left lil time for much else. That's been my schedule for the 6 months. We are finally getting back to 5 days a week at 10 hrs. I know that's not a good excuse!
Tomorrow I am going to check the parameters and keep a log on this thread so as I can keep a record.

I'm at home all day, and I still miss the occasional water change (like 5 of the 7 tanks just went 2 weeks between changes instead of 1. Oops)

But after that change, and I still only did 30%, all the nitrates were 10 and under.

Let me know how changing the substrate goes. What are you doing with the fish? Can they stay in there? I have GOT to change the substrate in my RTS/Amazon tank. Not because I want sand but because it is hideous. I assume it's going to be a huge pain getting the old substrate out.

I'm sorry to hear it *cries* May just have been stress from all the moving and such. . .hopefully he's the only one, and the others do well. . . good luck with them!

. . . changing out substrate is a huge pain, hoping never to have to do that again, lol!

I have always been told it is less stressful to do a substrate change with the fish out of the tank. So I always take them out and put them in a big tote. I also take any decor,plants, heater, and filter out and put them in the tote. It just makes it easier if everything is out of the tank. The swap is done had it done before I came to work. I will post pics and water parameters tomorrow. I have to go to a couple of stores tomorrow and see if I can find some "Pest" snails for food as the lil puffers are not taken to the bloodworms. I will also see if I can't find some live blackworms.

I'm going to try feeding them for the first time soon. I called the store to see what they were feeding them. I am assuming blood worms, like the Amazons. They didn't mention anything different when I bought them and I don't think I asked.

Hopefully the little buggers eat.
