Jes best advice I can give ya is to have either live blackworms or white worms (have heard they will eat these but have never tried.) and snails (bladder/pond work best.) before you get these fish. Chances are these will wild caught fish and are use to these foods already. My adult puffer isn't fussy anymore. He will bloodworms now and takes them out if the cup before they hit the water. He would probably take them out of my hand if I tried. When I first got him he was picky though. If you have these foods first you can get them to swap over to bloodworms with a little work. I an still having problems getting my hands on live blackworms but my area sucks for live foods!

Well I managed to get one to chase the worm on the tweezers and nibble at it. I lost one in the tank and it took me 15 mins to find the little guy!! So both are still alive which is good! I am going to feed them some snails tomorrow along with cleaning out their tank as it is nasty! I just cleaned it like 4 days ago! Pooping machines they are!! LoL Think I am also going to rig uo my Ehiem canister to this tank as I don't think the filter I have now is cutting it.

woah, but won't that be TOO much filtration? Am I wrong in my assumption that their small size means that they can get into trouble with filter flow? What funny little critters!!! I will definitely take that advice to heart whenever I'm ready for these guys! The TROUBLE is finding a supply of live foods that isn't contaminated. My old GOOD LFS used to home-breed feeder food, like brine and wormy things, but they're closed now. At least I have time to work it all out :) Good luck with these little ones! I can just see you playing with them - trying to make the worm look alive, lol! Gotta get a vid of that!!!

Well I can drill the holes out alittle and that will help with current but the volume will be the same. You can also turning the flow down by moving the close off value from the pump. I am going to ask some question on other forum that deals with just Dwarf puffers and see what they are doing about filtration as it is something I have some difficulty with on this tank or with puffers in general.

LMAO Jes that's actually what I did too. I got the tweezers and grabbed a bloodworm and wiggled it in the water. The only problem was the big puffer came swimming in and chased the lil ones off. Haha big bully!! He was kinda funny as he took a bite and wouldnt let go so he was trying to pull the worms out of the tweezers. The lil one's did come out and took a couple of nibbles but then lost interest again.

heehee, sounds like you need to get yourself a hook-less fishing pole!!! :D Interesting about the filtration, I hope you find the info you're looking for! These little Puffers are really keeping you on your toes, neh? What a fun fish to learn about! Do you ever accidentally make 'em PUFF?!!! Cute little things...

The Tiger lotuses is growing nicely now in this tank. I have bunches of snail eggs all over. now!

Last night I took out my lil stupid Fluval U1 filter and put together my Ehiem 2213 canister filter on my Puffer tank. I had to make a spray bar to fit the width of the tank. I still have the spray bar that can with it originally but I didn't want to cut it. I also had to get new hoses for the filter as I didn't have enough for it to reach the tank. Plus I lost the cap that goes on the intake line so I had to go find one that I could make work. When I went to put the spray in the tank I ended up knocking over my emersed plant basket into the tank. I didn't realize it to a few mins later and when I discovered it. It had made a huge mess and I ended uo haven to do a 75% water change. I though I had killed my lil puffers cause I couldnt find them. They ended up being okay. Here is some pics of the tank now after I changed somethings and added some Egeria densa to this tank. Petsmart was still selling a then for $1.47 they were in a cluster of 6 so I got 2 more clusters and put in this tank.

I like the way you have it all set up now - looks good! What did you end up having to do to the canister filter to make it safe for the little Puffers?
