hi kymmie
thanks for the offer,i wouldn't have a problem getting them overhere :)
went on vacation, filter crashed and burnt out, giant egg fart smell you have ever smelt
lost my clown loaches
yoyo loaches,a plec and neumerous(sp)platys,corydora catfish,barbs.
bought a new fluval 405 and transfered the bio media over, and left a rinsed out sponge in the tank
no more losses my sure do miss the clowns..............no clicking for food in the morning
makes for an empty void.

Nooo, that's terrible. I'd be crushed if I lost my loaches. Like you I look forward to their little clicking.
Darn Lainey, how long were you away that all this could have happened?
(is it any wonder I never want to go on vacation after reading something like this??)
What did the 405 cost you?? What are you going to restock with? GET MORE LOACHES!

we were away for a week,my step son phoned me
panicing because fish were dying, and he said the tank was going cloudy,
i asked him to see if he could see the water moving at the top,he said
there was next to no movement,i asked him if he could hear humming from the filter
he said yes,but i walked him through turning it all off and checking the filter,
he said the sponges were chocked up with crud,so i walked him through rinsing them out,
he put it all together and he said the flow was still bad,not much i could do but wait untill i got home.
no more fish died, but i checked the filter the next day of gettting home,it was hot
and nasty to say the least the impellor was burnt to the housing
.............man it stunk to high heaven ! ! !
i paid £100 for the 405 was ment to be more but i got a bit of a discount coz i'm a good customer
i need to re-home two large plecs befor i restock,as they are getting too big and need to go.
my firemouths are doing great though,so i don't really know what to go for ???????
or swap mum dad and babies and totally re-stock with ????????????????
what sayeth you ?

Well, if you still don't have any in a month or so, I'm planning on ordering 1 or 200 after the big e is over, I'm just over in MA, so you could even come pick up 20 or 50 or whatever if you wanted.

Not sure what I'll find for a price when I end up getting them, but I'll probably sell them for whatever they end up costing me if you're still looking.

I KNOW THEY eat algae, but are there real draw backs??? what do you feed them in a new tank when you have literally no algae, i have a zebra, and a apple snail. do they like a certain ph, is there anything i need to do additionall to care for them. do any snails eat plants/????

The malaysians are good if you have a tank with sand or soil substrate because they burrow down into it which help keep it from compacting which is bad for the plants.

that sounds like a good deal!

something burrowing to keep the sand from going anaerobic. i put a peice of carrot on my apple snail, and he is perched right on top of it!

They eat pretty much any veggies (lspinach, lettuce, corn) and some fruits...any uneaten fish food... You absolutely need hard water for shelled creatures..their shell is calcium and acidic waters will eat at it. If you use RO water make sure you replenish the minerals. If you have hard water out of tap just use that.. just make sure you test for copper since it is highly toxic to inverts.
